Following today’s declaration of a public health emergency in Alberta, (which amongst other things suspends all gatherings of more than 50 people) Christ the King Sunday services are suspended. Along with this, today Bp Charlie has cancelled all public worship across ANiC for at least the next 3 weeks. We will adhere as closely as possible to Alberta Health guidance in response to COVID19. The guidance from Alberta Health takes priority over whatever may happen elsewhere in our diocese.
No one knows how or when the current health crisis will be resolved. Given the intense media attention, misinformation, and rise in fraudulent activity, I urge you to consult the Alberta Health website as your primary source of information.
In the meantime, we will do our best to support our common life through this season of uncertainty and relative isolation. If you have any questions,
concerns, or needs, please let me know and we will do our best to support you and direct you to the resources you require.
In terms of our common life of prayer, we will provide resources and materials on a weekly basis so that we may pray at home individually, as families, or (at the moment anyway) small groups of trusted friends. I hope you will utilize these resources. It is important that we seek somehow to pray together for a time on Sunday. Please do not see this time as an extension of your private time of devotion but as some kind of ongoing participation in the life of our fellowship. Please be patient with us as we adapt and learn how best to support the congregation in this way through this unusual time. Of course, this means that our AGM will need to be rescheduled.
The ministry team will aim to call weekly those of you who consider Christ the King your church home, in order to support, encourage, and pray with you.
