Christ the King (CtK) is a Parish that was formed in 2013. We are within the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC), a diocese of the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA). I encourage you to visit our Resources Links page to find out more information about ANiC, the ACNA, and GAFCON.
For a very brief time, CtK met in neighbourhood halls, until coming to rest at our current rental location, Edmonton Christian High School, in 2014.
Our founding Priest was the Rev’d Roy Dickson, who was the Rector from 2013 to 2015. The Rev’d Lars Nowen was Rector from 2015 to 2020. Today, Rev’d Stephen Lieberman is the Rector.
It is impossible to properly name all of the work and ministry we have been involved with, but to highlight just a few:
- We have weekly Sunday Morning services at 10AM. We gather around the Word and Table to worship God every week as a local expression of the body of Christ.
- We are a church that prays. We have monthly congregational prayer, we have prayer ministry during our services for those who need, and some within the congregation have been a part of Wholeness Through Christ’s prayer ministry teams.
- CtK has been a church that has supported many missions at home and abroad. We have sent missions teams to Deschambault Lake, Saskatchewan.
- We often run courses, such as Alpha, Christianity Explored, and Bible in a Day. As well, we have run studies on the works of C.S. Lewis, Augustine, Athanasius, and on topics like The Creeds and Councils of the Church.
- We have many Small Groups that meet regularly to study God’s word and pray together. As well, there is a monthly Men’s Breakfast event, and a bi-weekly women’s Bible study.
- We have always tried to emphasize our Children’s, Youth, and Family Ministries. We offer Sunday School, in-service Catechesis, Youth Group on Friday nights, and resources and dialogue with parents about the issues surrounding parenting and the church.
Our vision is to be an expression of the Church of Christ as a member of ANIC, guarding and conveying the historic Christian faith; growing in heart, mind, and action; prayerfully, reverently, and joyfully following the Holy Spirit; and fulfilling the Great Commandment and Commission within our city, nation, and the world. Also, to provide a safe and welcoming haven for seekers and disciples who are new, adrift, neglected, or undernourished.
